Yours truly, burned the midnight oil to watch the 2017 Rolex 24 at Daytona TV broadcast.  Stay tuned, as next weekend, there will be a full race report.  Lots and lots of action to speak of, and congratulations to the overall winners and the first winners in the new Daytona Prototype International era.  Wayne Taylor Racing, and the #10 Cadillac DPi-V-R of Jordan Taylor, Ricky Taylor, Max Angelelli (who wins his final race before retiring from motorsports for good), and four-time NASCAR Monster Energy Cup champion/three-time Daytona 500 winner, Jeff Gordon, who finds victory lane at Daytona International Speedway, once again!  Looking forward to telling the whole story of the race.  Stay tuned for that.

Here is the situation with this weekend's Rolex 24 at Daytona

Ladies and gentlemen, an announcement.  This weekend, of course is the kickoff of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship, with the 55th annual Rolex 24 at Daytona.  While yours truly does hope to watch some of the race, other commitments this weekend, have led me to a decision, that the race will be blogged in it's entirety, however, at a later date.  This coming weekend will be too busy to allow for a full race report, even though yours truly hopes to watch some of the Saturday coverage.  As it is, then, next weekend, there will be a full race report on the Rolex 24.  So, stay tuned.  Additionally, there are other 2016 IMSA events yet to cover as well.  So, some of those will also pop up in the near future.

AF Corse Set for Four-Car Ferrari 488 GTE Effort

AF Corse will run four Ferrari 488 GTE cars in the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship.  Two of them will be LM GTE Am entered cars, and the other two in LM GTE Pro.  There will be a third entry for the 24 Hours of Le Mans to be run under the DH Racing moniker.  Driver names have been floating around, but none are necessarily official.  The three drivers we know will be back with the team are Davide Rigon, Sam Bird, and James Calado.  More in the article, and at the end, hints are also given that Proton Competition will be back in LM GTE Am this year, but the status of Larbre Competition and their participation, remains to be seen.

Heinemeier Hansson, Canal Complete Rebellion WEC Lineup

Rebellion Racing has finalized it's 2017 driver lineup in the FIA World Endurance Championship.  So, the two car lineup looks like this.

Car #13, the lead car will be shared by Mathias Beche, Nelson Piquet Jr., and David Heinemier Hansson.  Heinemeier Hansson is a former champion in the LM GTE Am division.

Car #31 (the team's second entry), will be piloted by Julien Canal, along with Bruno Senna and Nicolas Prost.  Julien Canal won the 2015 LMP2 championship in FIA World Endurance Championship competition, and spent the 2016 season, racing in the European Le Mans Series with Greaves Motorsport in a Ligier JS P2 Nissan.

It should also be noted that David Heinemeier Hansson, raced last year for Abu Dhabi Proton Racing in LM GTE Am, and his progress was followed quite frequently during FIA WEC coverage on Endurance... The Sports Car Racing Blog.
