Tandy, Pilet Score Historic Overall Win in Rain-Shortened Petit Le Mans

Say what?  I am shaking my head, in disbelief on this one.  The Petit Le Mans, was cut short, at Road Atlanta yesterday, due to torrential rains.  It is understood, though, that the visibility, was absolutely awful.  There was no way these blokes could have raced in this torrential rain.  The darkness, and the huge amount of spray in the wet, was a real safety issue.

A GT Le Mans car, wins, overall!  Nick Tandy and Patrick Pilet, for Porsche North America, are champions in the endurance classic.  Will have a race report, soon, folks.  But, it kind of seems like a moot point.  The race ended, two hours, before it was supposed to, running eight of the ten hours.  The win also gives the GT Le Mans championship, to Patrick Pilet!  Congratulations!

More stories are here, talking about the race.  Action Express ended up winning in Prototype competition with Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, and Sebastien Bourdais.

Here too, is the explanation from race director, Beaux Barfield, on the rain shortened event.

Even with this result, yours truly will still write a race report on the event, when there is time.  For now, here is video of the end of the event, with commentary from Fox Sports' announce team of Brian Till, Tommy Kendall, Justin Bell, and Jamie Howe.
