A new era of IMSA racing is finally here. Since the merger of ALMS and
Grand Am was announced in September of 2012, this is the season we have
all looked towards and the series heads have pointed to. It’s clearly
working. 20 prototypes (half being DPi), 9 GTLMs and 21 GTDs took the
grid for a whopping 808 laps and only 4 cautions for the 56th running of
the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. It was the perfect way to kickoff the
2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and a refreshing look at
what top level sportscar racing should be.
