6 Hours of Watkins Glen: Hour 2

Lawson Aschenbach is in the #93 Acura, and they had a tire change.  We remained under yellow for a short time, and are back to green.  Stephen Simpson is trying to make up positions.  United Autosport team manager Richard Dean, he might be able to get back behind the wheel of a race car again.  He knows the ins and outs of racing, for sure.  Ugh!  Tom Blomqvist gets a drive through penalty for running over pit equipment.  He's visiting the sin bin now.  It's a drive through penalty.  There's a slow Lexus.  Deary me!  Dominik Baumann had some trouble.  He was slowing, and now, he's back up to speed.  That car will lose places hand over fist.  Sheldon van der Linde and Alvaro Parente surely saw that.

We see Christina Nielsen in the #58 Wright Motorsports Porsche and Marc Miller in the #36 CJ Wilson Racing Acura NSX GT3.  Ryan Dalziel has gone off the road, he's pulled it over.  It's not an incident.  He lost power in the #2 Nissan DPi.  The sister car had an engine change.  Ricky Taylor and Stephen Simpson are side by side through the slow zone in the inner loop, headed for the outer loop.  We are getting into the middle section of this motor race as Richard Westbrook and Joey Hand continue to battle.  Laurens Vanthoor still leads in class for Porsche.  It is game over for ESM.  Both Nissan motors have failed.  It's definitely pear shaped for ESM.  They will try again next weekend, in Canada, at Mosport Park... Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

We're an hour and 15 minutes into this race.  Problems for the #71 P1 Motorsports Mercedes AMG GT3 of J.C. Perez.  It may not be over.  Don't run backwards up the pit lane.  Mario Farnbacher has been swept around by a Prototype.  Phil Hanson had to defend his line over Gustavo Yacaman.  Problems for Lexus as well.  For the #14 Lexus, they had a fuel pump problem. They have seen this issue rear it's head again.  #14 will now be the guinea pig through the rest of the race.  Stephen Simpson has his hands full with Ricky Taylor!  Yikes!  This is sports car racing, at it's very best!  Good stuff here!  Nick Tandy gave enough room to the Prototypes.

Taylor is applying the blowtorch to Simpson.  Meanwhile, Harry Tincknell has moved past Christian Fittipaldi.  James French and Tristan Nunez are up there.  Phil Hanson has run a 1:36,1, and he has his hands full with Gustavo Yacaman.  Renger van der Zande is catching up.  Phil Hanson and Gustavo Yacaman are both going to be smoked by Renger van der Zande!  Wow!  These blokes were working between the GTLM cars.  What a deal.  Dane Cameron is five and a half seconds clear of the rest of the Prototype top five.

James French is being harried by Felipe Nasr.  Stephen Simpson is passing the lapped GTD cars and Ricky Taylor is going for it.  Four and a half hours remain.  No letup whatsoever.  Ricky Taylor flashes the lights to warn lapped cars he is coming.  Dane Cameron will stay in the car, and he will do the second half of his stint.  The dive planes are still damaged.  The LED lights in the headlight are dropping out of it.  Dane Cameron's Acura ARX-05 is knackered.  Eric Curran is now at the wheel of the #31 Cadillac.  Dane Cameron is going for a triple stint.  #99 has pitted and Misha Goikhberg took over the car.  Ricky Taylor got fuel and tires and will do a triple stint.  Jordan Taylor has taken over from Renger van der Zande.  The #10 Cadillac will do single stints.  Mercedes #33 pitted and Luca Stolz took over from Ben Keating.  #71, the P1 Mercedes is back on track, and the #77 Mazda pitted.  Rene Rast, sharing with Nunez/Rast/Jarvis, the lineup.

Mazda #55 has pitted and so has one other team.  Phil Hanson now leads the motor race aheadof Ricky Taylor.  We have run an hour and 40 minutes.  Rene Rast slows and gets  going again. Jon Bennett pits, and hands the #54 car to Romain Dumas, who has broken the lap record at Pikes Peak a week ago.  Mario Farnabacher still leads GTD over the Audi of Sheldon van der Linde, over Alvaro Parente in the #86 Acura he shares with Katherine Legge.  Bryan Sellers has taken over the #48 Lamborghini Huracan GT3.  Mazda #77 has gone to the garage.

Nick Tandy has gone around Laurens Vanthoor.  Robert Alon has taken over the #85 JDC Miller car from Simon Trummer.  The engines are overheating.  Cool down the car.  Porsche #912 pits.  Change the driver every stop.  Earl Bamber will go back out into the race.  The #911 car will be in the lane soon with Patrick Pilet getting back in, and Tommy Milner will get into the #4 Corvette.  David Heinemeier Hanson is going to take over and get new tires.  So, #15 is still in the race, with the sister car in the garage.  Dane Cameron continues to lead and Ricky Taylor has halved the margin.  Taylor reset fast lap at 1:33.424.

The "Red Dragon", car #99 is losing ground.  Phil Hanson is doing a phenomenal job.  Jordan Taylor is behind.  Robert Alon and Spencer Pigot are battling each other.  Ford into the lane, and Dirk Mueller takes over #66.  Ford goes ahead of Porsche, but there's trouble for the #29 Audi!  The car is stopped between the toe and the heel of The Boot.  Richard Westbrook pits as well, as Porsche and Patrick Pilet go to second in GTLM!  He has passed Tommy Milner.  Bryan Sellers stays in the #48 Lamborghini.  Jan Magnussen remains in the #3 Corvette for a double stint.
