DTM Update: DTM Round 1: Portimao

Here is your first in-brief DTM update of 2022 as the GT3 era of the championship is going to come into it's own for 2022.

The DTM season opener at Portimao in Portugal.  The format is two races during the weekend that are 55 minutes long + the addition of one lap.  Short, quick, rapid fire races. The first of eight races of 2022 as the GT3 formula fully integrates itself into the DTM.  There is no opportunity to show the videos of the races.  If you are in Europe, watch them on YouTube.  If you have the Motor Trend app, you will be able to check out the races on video as well.  Here are the winners from the first weekend of racing at the Algarve in Portugal, near the seaside.

Race 1 winner: #22 Lucas Auer     AUT.     Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing Mercedes AMG GT3

Junior Winner: #7 Ricardo Feller   CHE.     Team Abt Sportsline Audi R8 LMS Evo II.

Race 2 winner: #51 Nico Muller     CHE.    Audi Sport Team Rosberg Audi R8 LMS Evo II.

The first of eight doubleheader weekends (16 races total) in DTM 2022 in the bag.  Next up, the Lausitzring in Klettwitz, Brandenburg, Germany.  That race weekend will be in three weeks on May 21st and 22nd.  Join us for the recap of that one as the DTM events are two races, short and sharp, 55-minute events + one additional lap.  So, lots to watch.  See you at the Lausitzring.  Join us for the quickie update from Brandenburg, in a few weeks.
