A Big Weekend Ahead in the World of Sports Car Racing

Goodness me!  As if we have not had enough action already, there will be more to come this weekend, with a sprint race and an enduro on tap.  There are some other races I do plan on writing and posting about, eventually when I have time to do so.  Some of the support races from the Paul Ricard circuit to GT World Challenge Europe come to mind, and so does the latest Creventic enduro, which, I believe was the 12 Hours of Mugello in the Tuscany region of Italy.  Those will be discussed in due time.  But, in the more immediate and relevant future, the prototypes will be back in action with IMSA GTP stateside and Le Mans Hypercar and the FIA World Endurance Championship in Europe for the first time in 2024.

I am speaking of course, of the first IMSA sprint event which is the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on the streets of Long Beach, California, in a double bill with the IndyCar championship.  That race, you will hear all about this coming Saturday afternoon on the 20th of April.  From Long Beach, on Sunday morning, we travel to Italy, and to a new venue for the FIA WEC at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari located in Bologna, Italy.  This is not necessarily Ferrari's home track, but the Tifosi will be there en masse.  The situation for using Imola and the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, this year, is due to construction and track renovations at the traditional home of the FIA WEC Italian round at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza which is near Milan.

Both circuits have plenty of rich history, so there is not too much of a trade off with Imola being the host venue for the Italian round of the championship to open the European leg of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship.  I recall, from watching historical video footage, that in the 1983 World Sports Car Championship, I believe there were two rounds in Italy, Monza in the springtime and Imola in the fall.  IMSA will be broadcast here stateside on Peacock, so, if you have that app, you are good to go.  IMSA Radio will also provide coverage and followers globally can use that service, provided of course by Radio Show Limited in England.

Then, in the middle of the week IMSA will have the live broadcast from Long Beach on their YouTube channel syncing the video from NASCAR Productions with the Radio Show Limited commentary audio.  For the FIA WEC, Motor Trend has now merged into Discovery Plus.  So, you should be able to transfer over if you already have the Motor Trend app, into Discovery Plus, or, you may need to download Discovery Plus as a standalone app in order to access what Motor Trend should still have to offer which does include the FIA WEC coverage with the world feed commentary.

I shall do the same, and then, of course, in addition to the IMSA race report, I shall also bring to you, all the action from the FIA WEC at Imola.  So, everything shall stay the way it always has been, with some minor alterations to platforms.  There will be a lot to cover.  I believe, if I have the time, I shall also post the video of more SRO GT World Challenge action as the season for some of their championships Down Under in Australia have also begun.  So, once again, like a lot of these other championships I am still working with, there will be videos linked to the races from GT World Challenge Australia and I believe the new GT4 Australia championship, linked here on the blog, for you to peruse, when there is ample time to make it all work out.

Lots to look forward to.  So, please do stay tuned.  For now, so long, and take care, everybody.
