More memories of the golden ages of sports car racing. This is a picture, of the 1969 Rolex 24 at Daytona, taken from a Facebook group called Sports Car Prototype and Endurance Racing.
This
is what racing was like during the golden age. In the infield at
Daytona in 1969 we have the Lola T70 Mk 3 GT of Ed Leslie and Lothar
Motschenbacher leading the Pontiac Firebird of Jerry Titus and Jon Ward.
BTW The Lola would come in second and the Firebird third overall.
Next is the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale of Bill Pryor and Jose
Marina that would finish 27th. Coming up fast behind the Alfa is the
David Hobbs, Mike Hailwood Gulf Ford GT40. It blew a head gasket and
failed to finish. Last is the Porsche 911 of Harold Williamson and
George Drolsom that finished 8th overall. Those were the days. Eric
