By the early 1980s, with the introduction of the new ground effects Prototype race cars in Group C and IMSA Grand Touring Prototype competition, the once dominant GTX/Group 5 Porsche 935 was beginning to run out of steam. The production based monster, though it had power and straight line speed going for it, could not match the new prototypes in the aerodynamics department. Porsche Road & Race has the story of it's swansong.
