Pirelli GT4 America Action Returns to the West at the Renowned Laguna Seca Circuit
An action-packed opening month of Pirelli GT4 America SprintX
competition closes out with the next pair of rounds at the scenic and
storied WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California this
weekend.
The 11-turn, 2.238-mile
circuit in the mountains near the Monterey peninsula will host the
SprintX West contingent in conjunction with the Intercontinental GT
Challenge Powered by Pirelli California 8 Hours. A total of twenty
drivers will contest the two classes in the Pirelli GT4 America West
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, showcasing five different
manufacturers.
Fresh off their clean-sweep weekend at Circuit of the Americas, ST
Racing’s Jon Miller and Harry Gottsacker return in the #28 BMW M4 GT4
hoping to repeat their performances and clean up once again in Monterey.
Jeff Bader and Casey Dennis, driving the lone entry from manufacturer
Ginetta in this weekend’s regional SprintX contest, look to earn points
and advance into the top points position with the USRD #5 Ginetta G55.
Third in points after the doubleheader weekend at Circuit of the
Americas are ST Racing teammates and namesake Jason Wolfe and Samantha
Tan. The drivers of the #38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT4 are just three points
behind second place and are ready to overcome that deficit this weekend.
Rearden Racing’s #98 Audi R8 LMS GT4 looks to add to the mix as drivers
Sarah Cattaneo and Owen Trinkler find themselves an equivalent number
of points just outside of the top three Pro-Am competitors.
The #19 Stephen Cameron Racing entry bring another BMW M4 GT4 to the
mix, but this time with a championship pedigree as Sean Quinlan and 2017
SprintX GTS Am champion Greg Liefooghe take the wheel.
The Racers Group brings four drivers in two entries, both running the
new Porsche 718 Cayman CS MR. The Am pairing of Kevin Woods and Chris
Bellomo are the current points leaders in the SprintX Am West region and
will look to extend that lead further in the #67 Porsche. Driving the
#17 Porsche are teammates Derek DeBoer and James Rappaport who seek to
improve their third place sitting.
Vesko Kozarov and Jeff Burton, driving for Rearden Racing in the #91
Audi R8 LMS GT4, occupy the fourth-seeded position after a regional
overall win in Round 1 at COTA.
Racers Edge Motorsports’ venerable SIN R1 GT4 will wear the #54 and take direction from Bob Michaelian and Mark Pavan.
BMW representation in GT4X West Amateur class comes from the RHC
Jorgensen/Strom by Strom Motorsports #452 BMW M4 GT4 entry, piloted by
Daren Jorgensen and Brett Strom.
The action gets underway with official Practice sessions taking to the
track on Thursday, March 28th at 10:45 am PDT (1:45 pm EDT) with
Qualifying sessions beginning at 4:45 pm PDT (7:45 pm EDT).
