Final practice, despite a major wreck for an LMP2 car (details coming soon on that), was uneventful, for Action Express Racing. An uneventful practice, before a race as big as the Rolex 24 is a good thing. The #31 Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac has slotted into fourth place on the board, right behind our sister car, the #5 entry, from JDC-Miller Motorsports. Sister car? Sister car, you ask. The deal is, AXR does not run the #5 car per se, however, Mr. Johnson does still have ownership of the number, and we have given the chance to one of our top drivers, Joao Barbosa, to race the car, with the assistance of JDC-Miller Motorsports, the Minnesota based team, based out of Savage, MN, a Minneapolis suburb, under team bosses John Church and Chris Miller, to run the car, with Joao as one of the drivers, along with their more regular entry, the #85 Cadillac, affectionately nicknamed "The Banana Boat", by fans, with it's drivers, Juan Piedrahita, Mattheus Leist, Chris Miller, and Tristan Vautier.
In the #5 is the solid lineup of Joao Barbosa, Sebastien Bourdais, and Loic Duval. Barbosa and Bourdais, won together, for Action Express, at the 2014 Rolex 24 and Joao Barbosa also won with AXR in 2018 in the #5 car. Barbosa was the main driver in the car for AXR's first Rolex 24 win, a decade ago, in 2010 as well. Our best time in FP4 was 1:36.668. Now, qualifying and practice, and all the talking, is over. It is time, to deliver. Can AXR win another Rolex 24? Stay tuned, to find out, ladies and gentlemen. Race day is tomorrow, and you will get a full report, and wall-to-wall coverage, as promised.
