Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the FIA World Endurance Championship organizers have had no choice but to shuffle the deck insofar as the 2021 schedule and the debut season of the new Le Mans Hypercar class. This means postponing the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the second consecutive year, moving it from it's traditional June date, to mid August, and then, taking the original season opening race which was to be held in Portimao, Portugal at the Algarve circuit, and moving that particular race to the June date where Le Mans would have been on the calendar. It also means that Spa Francorchamps, in the Ardennes forest of Belgium, shall serve once again, as the backdrop and venue for the season opener for FIA WEC 2021. So, here's the why and the how as to the way this all transpired.
