It is time for Sunday action on the famed and daunting concrete runways at Sebring International Raceway for SRO America. We are opening today's action, with race two of the GT America championship, combining GT2, GT3, and GT4 machinery with single drivers per car, all in one 40-minute shootout. Grab a hot beverage and some breakfast and join us for this motor race which is coming up. George Kurtz, in his win yesterday, he has won the title in this championship, but five driverd are still fighting for the remaining positions as we begin the second formation lap for race two at Sebring as we join Ryan Myrehn, Calvin Fish, and Amanda Busick for the coverage today.
OK. The cars are on track. George Kurtz has signed, sealed, and delivered the SRO3 title and the GT4 race, we will see what happens because yesterday's race was a stormer and we'll see how today works out. Moisey Uretsky is the pole man in GT4. Green flag, and away we go! George Kurtz has the jump over his rivals in GT3 and here comes Jeff Burton and Jason Harward, and it is a squeeze between the Lamborghini's and the GT4 cars thunder away! Moisey Uretsky and Elias Sabo scrap already and here comes Jason Bell. He wants a bite of the cherry at his home track. Oh man. Jason Harward, you know he wants it but George Kurtz slams the door in his face.
Smoke from the GMG Aston Martin I believe. Now, Elias Sabo leads Jason Bell. Bryan Putt and Adam Adelson are pushing. Adelson leads Bell in the championship right now. Jason Bell is really pushing. He has eschewed his duties in Pirelli GT4 America to focus on the GT America championship as they scream through Sunset Bend for the first time of asking. Jason Daskalos had splitter woes yesterday and now into Kristnesen corner, Jason Harward is pushing. George Kurtz got a congratulatory text from "Mr. Le Mans" Tom Kristensen. Wow! Okie dokie then. Jason Harward is really pushing. You know he wants to win this motor race.
Kurtz, Harward, Burton and Mirko Schultis in the Callaway Corvette. Smoke from the rear of the Aston Martin GT4 of Jason Bell. Deary me. That is getting worse. Is that tire smoke? Oil smoke? He knows he wants the title. Elias Sabo at the top of the shop in an identical Aston Martin for Flying Lizard. They are really pressing on hard. Bell's issues were with qualifying and now, as he is using his race craft, he fell off his scooter and scraped up his right side. But he is going to tough it out. The pace is good but where on earth is that smoke wisping from? It does not go away until the fluid runs out. George Kurtz is pressing hard.
Mirco Schultis is really pushing with that Callaway Corvette, an older GT3 car, but still competitive. He has leapfrogged Jeff Burton's Lamborghini. Harward wants by Kurtz down the Ulmann straight. Kurtz is in the pound seat, over the bumps in Sunset Bend, turn 17. Harward could whistle by Kurtz perhaps. We shall see what is gping to happen Tire degradation on these Pirelli P Zero tires could come into play. Look at the black marks as the tires undulate across this historic concrete. Respect The Bumps. That is the Sebring motto, and it is so true. Kurtz is still pushing. Be careful but punch it nonetheless.
Poor old Jason Harward faded yesterday but he is back on the buttom this morning and their last lap was separated by only a hundredth of a second! Holy cow! Harward had an electrical issue that caused the Lamborghini to stall. Hopefully that stalling gremlin is out of the circuit. We thought his tires were square but they weren't. Traffic is critical. We saw a similar style of racing in GT World Challenge America yesterday between Jordan Pepper and Robby Foley. Adam Adelson, third in GT4 in the Premier Motorsports Porsche Cayman as Moisey Uretsky passes Bryan Putt for position. Uretsky is on the back foot.
He was dominant yesterday. He has to push before the finale at Indianapolis in just a few weeks. Kurtz's gap is growing after he uncorks a 2:03.288 for the Crowdstrike fastest lap. It is hammer time for George Kurtz. Can Jason Harward keep up the pace? On long runs, the Mercedes really hugs the racetrack while the Lamborghini's handling is edgier, pointier. Funny that the tire deg around this place is not too much of a concern around this rugged old concrete. We saw high tire deg last time at Road America, another fabulous circuit. Harward is reeling in Kurtz. Bobbing, dodging, weaving, all over the shop.
They scream into the hairpin and now, Harward wants it. Kurtz slams the door in his face again, look. Harward is not taking this challenge lying down. Harward like Jason Bell is now focused solely on GT America. He was racing Fanatec GT World Challenge America but that did not work as well for him. We will see that all GT3 race later today and bring it to you on the blog. Get the exit speed out of the corner, hit the power earlier. That will help with performance. Tigh Isaac, Zelus team boss, looking on. Isaac was a speed skater. Harward off in the dirt and Kurtz brakes deep too.
These two blokes are scrapping hammer and tongs. Kurtz defends and Harward forced to the outside. Kurtz slides and Harward tries but can't make it. I am stunned these two blokes have not had any argy bargy, any hip and shoulder yet. We will have to have a Captain Cook at GT4 soon. Moisey Uretsky, Jason Bell, Adam Adelson, they are all in the fight. The Mercedes is velcroed to the track while the Lambo is it's namesake logo, a raging bull. Blue flag for the lapped GT4 car of Joey Dasilva in the Toyota Supra.
Harward losing downforce into the braking zone or there could have been a disaster there. More traffic in GT4. BMW M4 GT4 vs. Toyota Supra GT4. Move it, chaps. We are coming through. Rick Uhler and Nick Shanny in their own dice. Harward really pressing and pouring on the steam through Tower Corner. Running wide into Le Mans corner is a good line. In the GT4 class it is Moisey Uretsky who is right on Adam Adelson's six for the final podium place for the championship fight. Harward has the run and makes the pass! Wow! Harward is the new leader with nearly half the race gone.
Custodio Toledo in GT4 moves over. Harward is going to pull away it appears. Hopefully the electrical woes on that car are solved as Elias Sabo is leading GT4 over the championship contenders. Robb Holland in the fight but buried down in eighth place. None of the title contenders are running at the top of the shop. So, we are into the second half of the motor race. Flying Lizard boss Darren Law and Sabo's driver coach Andy Lee is watching on. Law says Elias Sabo has been doing only part time driving in years past but in 2022 he has run a full season and man oh man, he is improving as a driver leaps and bounds.
Sabo was nervous starting from pole but he has held off the pressure with aplomb. Tire rub on Jason Bell's car created the smoke. Do not cut down that Pirelli tire. Good scrap midfield with a nmber of the drivers. We are watching Uretsky monstering Adelson and applying the blowtorch. Uretsky was a winner a couple times yesterday. Harward plays through the GT4 traffic and George Kurtz is getting train-lengthed by the Lamborghini man. Bryan Putt, a veteran touring car racer is moving up to GT4 and doing very well. There is a dropped event in GT America because the new Porsche Cayman model was not homologated at the beginning of the 2022 season at St. Petersburg, Florida, on the street course that we saw way back in February.
The points battle is going to be squeaky, squeaky as we go into Indianapolis. Mirco Schultis, third in SRO3 in the Callaway C7 Corvette. This GT4 scrum is really boiling. You can see Uretsky turning it on against Adelson. Just under 15 minutes on the board through Cunningham Corner, the rhythm section that flows in the esses. Don't hit the curb with a fully loaded race car on turn in. These sweepers are remarkable. Through Bishop Bend, named for the founder of another great sports car championship that races here. Jason Daskalos, game over. He has found a place of safety but is out of it. He has had a horrid weekend.
That Audi R8 LMS is long in the tooth. Maybe Jason Daskalos will have to find a newer race car for the future. That said, the previous generation GT3 cars are still going for it. There was a Callaway Corvette GT3 in Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia as well and we will have video of those races for you fairly soon. Moisey Uretsky has raced in Mazda MX-5 Cup and has been doing so for a good while as Adam Adelson is a new bloke on the scene and he is proving his worthiness as a racing driver. He really is. Kurtz closes on Harward as we see a spread between overall speeds between 98 and 102 miles an hour. Kurtz is coming in a hurry, uncorking fastest lap of the motor race.
Kurtz had some extra magic dust in his pocket. That's for dead sure. Harward looking for his first GT America win since race two at Sonoma, California, way back in March. Harward uncorks fastest time in sector one. Champion, George Kurtz, stayed at the track, working on adjustments for the Indianapolis 8 Hours getting ready for the big enduro at The Brickyard. Harward slides wide and Kurtz says, "thanks, pal, I will take it." Harward says "no you don't, sunbeam. I will pass you." Harward off the road again! Aye yaye yaye yaye yaye. When a racing slick screams at you, you know you are in trouble. A squealing tire says, "just put me out of me misery!"
Elias Sabo and Jason Bell, 1-2 in GT4. Bryan Putt is demoted as Marko Radisic and Seth Lucas pass. Uretsky is all over Adam Adelson like a cheap suit. Last night, the team did general maintenace on that race car but changed nothing on setups. Elias Sabo is really going for it. His confidence is really going upwards right now. Five and a half minutes still on the clock. It's not over until it's over, mate. Believe me. Uretsky is right on top of Adelson for the braking zone to turn seven. No dice that time. Adelson late on the brakes and holds third.
This is the points leader and the driver on a hot streak. These two chaps are in a boxing match. Just two races to go at Indianapolis Motor Speedway two weeks from now. No yellow flags to get fuel save. Ross Chouest is in hot pursuit of Robb Holland in GT4 as well and Andy Pilgrim and Anthony Bartone are also right on it. Uretsky is still monstering Adelson who is staying cool under pressure. Stay on the racing line and that is what Adelson is doing. Adelson is not going to take this one sitting down. In GT3, George Kurtz leads, four and a half seconds to the good over Jason Harward, Mirco Schultis, and Jeff Burton. It is Premier Motorsports Porsche Cayman vs. Accelerating Performance Aston Martin Vantage GT4.
The race is almost over. We are close to the finish with just a minute and change to go. One lap left. Adam Adelson is not cracking despite Moisey Uretsky really giving him all he can handle. Kurtz's gap over Harward has ballooned to four and a half seconds. Kurtz has a lap to go, the champion elect of GT3 in GT America, is looking to break out the broom and sweep. To the fight for third in GT4, Adelson is still in control but drops a wheel and so Uretsky can smell blood but will he have time? This might get spicy. They have a lap more to run. Sand running out of the hourglass for yesterday's race winner. Next to last time through Sunset Bend for these boys.
White flag. George Kurtz can sail to a weekend sweep. 2022 champion George Kurtz has lit the fuse. He is going to dominate. I am the champ, and I will show you in spades. Kurtz wins number eight! Adelson vs. Uretsky through Tower corner. Uretsky has to go now into Sunset Bend. But it is Elias Sabo and Flying Lizard who win this motor race in GT4! 2:02 dead, 2:02.035 fastest lap for Kurtz.
Overall/SRO3: #04 George Kurtz CrowdStrike Racing by Riley Motorsports Mercedes AMG GT3
GT4: #8 Elias Sabo Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4
Adelson nips Uretsky for the podium! Sabo is a winner in GT4! Co-driver Andy Lee, engineer Owen Hayes, team boss Darren Law. If they come back together for 2023, they will be in the fight. Wow. Jason Daskalos has been eliminated from the championship picture, sadly. He will have to come back next year and hope for some good results in the finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway which is the next and last event on the schedule. We will see you at "The Brickyard" in two weeks. Bye bye for now, everyone. We have a lot more racing today to see. So, stay with us.
