Maybe, in the long run, this is a good idea.  The qualifying race for the Rolex 24, is and was a moot point.  Traditional qualifying shall work better.  The qualifying races are a tradition at Daytona for the NASCAR stock cars but did not work out too well for the sports car brigade.  No worries.
