Fair and Square

To all those whining and gnashing their teeth about the result of the 12 Hours of Sebring, break out ye olde whiskey bottle and drown ye sorrows.  I shall offer my two cents.  Listen.  My friends at Action Express Racing won the thing, fair and square after that crackup with the Porsche's, the #10 Acura and all the rest who had that shemozzle towards the end of the motor race in turns 3, 4, and 5, or wherever it did happen on the road.  Those other blokes were playing for keeps in the waning moments.  Well, when you play for keeps and try to play a round of dodge 'em cars in the darkness, you know that some poor bloke is going to make a move and it is going be both wrongfooted and boneheaded at the same time, and that is what at least one of the nuts behind the wheels of either the Porsche's or the single WTR/Andretti Acura did.

IMSA did not play stupid games.  Your teams gambled and the drivers played stupid games taking multimillions of dollars' worth of cars and turning them into bulldozers, going all over the shop in the darkness, just to make banzai moves, laying it on the line, and what do you get?  You get a scrapyard worth bucketloads of money and lots of torn up motorcars in the process.  Maybe, if the drivers of the teams you like, would have been using their heads instead of trying to rampage, then you would have gotten a more favorable result.  Hence, the boys at Action Express come out in the clear, and you all are gobsmacked because instead of crossing the finish line, the remote-control wizard zaps your guys with a laser and they end up sitting in the barn in a heap down there.

Sorry.  Crying in your beer ain't gonna help.  The Whelen Cadillac boys won that race fair and square.  A couple people make good points that Code 60 procedures running to a set speed might help.  But that is not how the American rules work.  I think safety cars and single file restarts are all we have.  Complain to IMSA about if you must.  Write them letters.  I am sure they'd be happy to explain their procedure to you.  The only ones who did not play stupid games were the chaps at Action Express, who won this motor race, and deservedly so.  I am biased.  I know.  But, I have a connection to the team, and am a massive supporter of what they do.

There are other races including one at Long Beach in California in about three weeks or so.  Take it easy.  Take a chill pill.  Cool it.  Do you want a cookie?  There are plenty more races left to go in 2023.
