Petit Le Mans: Hour 9

Felipe Nasr is very quick, however, Rossi is flying at the moment.  Drivers really have adjustments to make between prototype and GT cars.  Aaron Telitz is pitting the #14 AVS Lexus.  A driver change takes place, and Jack Hawksworth will finish this motor race for AIM Vasser Sullivan.  The Lexus breaks traction right ahead of Matt McMurry in the Acura NSX GT3.  Nasr leads by 2.1 seconds.  Lamborghini #48 in the lane.  No driver change as Madison Snow stays in the automobile.  They are adding fuel too from the look of it.  #31 pits and so does #7.  The battle of the cold tires.  Scott Dixon is now leading ahead of Juan Montoya, Loic Duval, Felipe Nasr, and Alexander Rossi.

Scott Dixon leads this motor race.  Clean air is king.  Jack Hawksworth leads GT Daytona essentially with Madison Snow chasing.  Cadillac #10 and Acura #6 in the lane.  Everyone in DPi has now pitted.  #10 runs off the road.  Cold tires catch anyone out here at Road Atlanta.  It's cold and it's dark.  Kyle Kirkwood is doing very well in his first sports car race in a GT car.  Rossi is closing on Nasr to the tune of 1.6 seconds.  BMW #25 is in the lane from the lead in GTLM.  Bruno Spengler hands a water bottle to his team mate, I think it's Connor De Phillippi, or, it is Colton Herta.  Not sure who.

Porsche #16 is in the lane now.  Ryan Hardwick, Patrick Long, and Jan Heylen.  The #25 car can be a guinea pig for what can go on with the sister #24 machine.  #24 leads GTLM with Jesse Krohn at the wheel of it.  Rossi takes the lead over Nasr.  Felipe Nasr is going to push.  Rossi is skittering away from Felipe Nasr.  #7 and the Acura team were conceding the championship.  They are tied with the #10 and the #31 is a point back.  Rossi is moving ahead.  Rossi gets checked up by a GT car off turn seven.  Nasr is 3-4 car lengths behind with an hour and a half left to run.  We are in the last part of this race.  Put the hammer down.

It's crunch time.  Rossi gets balked by another GT car and herte comes Nasr, trying to force Rossi to play defense.  Felipe Nasr tries for the lead, has it, and then loses it to Rossi.  An hour and a half left.  Everyone has stopped and needs one more in GTLM and GTD.  Lexus #12 is off sequence.  They could do a split strategy or a short fill.  They will need a driver change before the race ends.  Kyle Kirkwood brings the #12 Lexus into the lead and there will be one more driver change before this race ends for the #12 team.  He is finished and Townsend Bell will finish out this motor race.

Trent Hindman and Townsend Bell battle in GT Daytona.  Hindman in the #57 MSR car.  4/10ths of a second between the leaders.  Nasr moves past the lapped #77 Mazda but still has to catch Alexander Rossi.  Alexander Rossi has a clear road.  Something may hyave broken on the #16.  But, maybe, he had to slow down to avoid being nipped.  Felipe Nasr is behind by 1.9 seconds, with two pit stops to go.  Jack Hawksworth is in conservation mode to make the last fuel stop shorter.  Jeff Westphal is second in GT Daytona right now.  By coasting, brake later and save your lap time.

Felipe Nasr is really pushing.  He will have to give way to Felipe Nasr, and #31 in the lane.  Ricky Taylor is now in the lead ahead of Ryan Briscoe.  Pipo Derani has gone around Ricky Taylor.  It is going to be a scrum between Pipo Derani and Ricky Taylor.  We can see the battle now is between Ricky Taylor, Pipo Derani, and Renger van der Zande.  Jack Hawksworth has been snookered by Jeff Westphal.  This is the battle for GT Daytona in the hours of darkness.  This race is mega right now, mate.

Mikkel Jensen and Scott Huffaker have been battling like crazy in LMP2.  #52 is in the lane.  This stop plus one more to finish out this motor race.  Patrick Kelly, Simon Trummer, and Scott Huffaker.  It is Trummer who will take that car to the flag.  An hour and four minutes left on the board.  Pipo Derani leads over Ricky Taylor, Renger van der Zande and Dane Cameron.  Mikkel Jwensen continues to lead LMP2.  Augusto Farfusd leads GTLM and Jeff Westphal in GT Daytona.  The attrition rate has been very low.

Ricky Taylor keeps up the pressure on Pipo Derani.  In GT Daytona we see the Turner Motorsports BMW which has not had the race they've wanted, but Jeff Westphal has been in the lead, and this car has been in two wrecks after Ryan Hunter-Reay ricocheted off of it, and then, had a collision with the #77 Mazda when Alessandro Balzan was driving.  Ferrari have been robust and resilient.
