More Intercontinental GT Challenge Headlines in Preparation for the Bathurst 12 Hours

More pre-event news and information from Intercontinental GT Challenge and the Bathurst 12 Hours.

Klaus Bachler is a busy man these days having started a seven-race odyssey at the IMSA Rolex 24 at Daytona, and he has recent completed races in the Asian Le Mans Series as well.  The odyssey continues at Bathurst and then will come to a close at the FIA World Endurance Championship season opener in Qatar on March 2nd.

Ford, Multimatic Ramping Up Production of Mustang GT3

We have seen the factory cars and one or two privateer efforts.  Now, I believe we will see even more Mustang's very soon, especially in SRO competition and the Intercontinental GT Challenge even though Ford has the car registered with a number of teams globally and in multiple championships.

The entry list for the Bathurst 12 Hours is set to feature 31 cars.

Manthey EMA Bathurst Return Confirmed in 31-Car Entry

Factory Porsche LMDh drivers Matt Campbell and Laurens Vanthoor are also set to feature in GT3 cars at Mount Panorama for the Bathurst 12 Hours.  Matt Campbell was part of the winning team for Porsche Penske Motorsports at the Rolex 24.

Campbell, Vanthoor in Manthey EMA Lineup for Bathurst 12H

ROWE Racing are set to defend their title at the 24 Hours of Spa this summer, and to compete as well in the Nurburgring 24 Hours this spring, retaining their winning trio from a year ago of Marco Wittmann, Phillipp Eng, and Nick Yelloly, while also adding new recruit Raffaele Marciello to the roster.  This will be a formidable lineup when the Nurburgring 24 comes around in the spring.

Remember that the Nurburgring 24 Hours this year is also a part of the SRO Intercontinental GT Challenge which will grow the GT3 class presence at the Nordschleife by leaps and bounds.  I think the Nürburgring classification may still very well designate the cars under the SP9 banner.

This story was part of the discussion in the latest round of sports car racing industry news coverage.  Will we see the new GT3 Corvette run on an international level?  The answer is, definitely yes.  But we have yet to see if there will be customers who run the car in an IGTC capacity.
