Intercontinental GT Challenge Headlines

Now that the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared from both the Nurburgring 24 Hours and the 24 Hours of Spa, here is an update on the SRO Intercontinental GT Challenge, including a decision on the appeal made by ROWE Racing after the Nurburgring 24's conclusion, an early conclusion, due of course to the terrible weather and the fog on the Grand Prix section of the Nurburgring while a good part of the fabled Nordschleife remained clear.

First of all, ROWE Racing puts up a good point about this proposed doubleheader within a single week's time for the 2025 running of both the Nurburgring 24 Hours and the Spa 24 Hours.  This idea is impossible, and I hope to explain why in a forthcoming editorial post.

ROWE Affected by "Impossible" N24-24H Spa Double Header

An appeal was filed by ROWE Racing BMW after the Nurburgring 24 Hours.  But that appeal has been rejected, so Audi Sport Scherer PHX are the official winners of the Nurburgring 24 Hours for 2024 with the race being cut short due to torrential rain and fog.

Porsche is not planning to send any factory drivers or factory nominated international teams to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Intercontinental GT Challenge and SRO GT World Challenge America season finale, the Indianapolis 8 Hours.  Their reliance will be on the existing entrants in GT World Challenge America to score manufacturers' points for the Intercontinental GT Challenge.  This is in the spirit of how the rules are written, to have local teams score points for a given GT3 manufacturer.
