Ferrari might just have the edge on pace compared to Toyota. It is indeed game on. Fabio Scherer continues to lead in LMP2. Lorents Horr is fifth in LMP2 in the #48 IDEC Sport Oreca. They are based at a new facility at Paul Ricard in the south of France. Ferrari seems to be the team with the pace. Use every trick in the book. That is what Toyota will have to do.
Will Ferrari have to worry about a power cycle? The next pit stops, we'll see. It could be an intermittent issue and we'll see what happens. Inter Europol Competition, they are going for it indeed. A lot of front running favorites have not met their expectations or they got into trouble with the weather throwing a monkey into the wrench. Can Corvette find the answer to the Iron Dames' riddle? In a couple of years, the Mission H24, the Toyota H2 Racing concept, and the Alpine Glow, these futuristic prototypes could be in a hydrogen powered class. We want to try hydrogen powered combustion engines. This could (and I emphasize could) help clean up the environment. But we are just going to have to see if these cars work. One of these cars is shaped like a teardrop. Will we see these prototypes racing at La Sarthe in 2025, in just two years? We'll have to wait and find out.
The pit crews are trying to catch power naps. Eat up with nutrition and catch a nap if you can. Garage 56 and Hendrick Motorsports have Jenson Button at the wheel of the Camaro ZL1. They are eighth among the GTE Am cars. Such an awesome car and an awesome concept. Garage 56 carves corners and it is quick on the straightaways but corners well too. The tires are 22 pounds lighter than typical NASCAR Cup Series tires. Jenson Button will do the Pikes Peak Hillclimb later with a vehicle called the Radford. Scott Dixon in the #3 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac heads for the pit lane. This is the car he shares with Renger van der Zande and with Sebastien Bourdais.
Endurance teams do quick fill fuel and there used to be quick brake changes. I am not sure if those are still existent. A big swing in favor in LMP2 to Inter Europol Competition and Fabio Scherer. Scherer's advantage has grown over the other LMP2 cars. Four hours and 41 minutes of racing to go. Brendon Hartley will take over the #8 Toyota from Sebastien Buemi. The LMP2 cars have been drawn back a bit over the years but still hit 320 kilometers an hour. It is almost a spec class with exclusively Oreca chassis' for the last number of years now. Gunnar Jeannette came here as an 18-year-old driving cars for Dr. Don Panoz with Bill Auberlen and with David Donohue and now he is a prime mover in the AO Racing campaign. Pier Guidi knows the chase is on, and he is pushing like mad to try and build a gap. Le Mans recently has become a sprint race but in 2023 it was bananas for the opening hours.
