Action Express Rolex 24 Diary: Pre-Race Excitement

Blimey!  I have been way too busy!  I was going to get to a handful of these last weekend at the Roar Before the Rolex 24.  But I will be brief.  Action Express has had a ton to be happy about in the last handful of days here at Daytona International Speedway, from our topping numerous sessions at the Roar Before the Rolex 24, to Pipo Derani's wickedly stunning new record pole lap for the race in qualifying last Sunday.  Now, in the final night practice session before Saturday's motor race, we head to the top of the tree once again in the GTP class.  Pipo, once again, at the wheel of the car.  That's fabulous!

Our team is hitting on all cylinders and so is the Cadillac with its V8 motor.  I am confident going into the race itself come Saturday.  Credit to be given not just to Pipo, but to co-drivers Jack Aitken and Tom Blomqvist as well.  I truly believe in my heart of hearts, that of all ten GTP cars on the grid, it is AXR who has the best possible driver lineup to tackle the 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday, this weekend.  Our preparation is meticulous, the car is running like a dream.  Now, we just have to have a massive slice of luck on our side.  Action Express has won the Rolex 24 three times, in 2010, 2014, and 2018, with three different eras of car.  Make that two, since we did win with two different Daytona Prototype cars, our 2018 win was in the Daytona Prototype International era, and now, we have a chance, to back up our 2023 championship, with a possible fourth win at the Rolex 24, with the new Cadillac V LMDh.

Crossing ye olde fingers this will be our year.  But the race itself has yet to begin.  One final Free Practice tomorrow morning to test and tune for Saturday, and then it is game on.  Best of luck to my pals at Action Express.  You know who you are.  I feel it in my bones.  This is our year.  Stoked for the race on Saturday, and we'll talk to you then.  For now, a very good night to all of you, from Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
