EDITORIAL & Rolex 24 Diary Entry #1: I believe this is our year

Myself, and my pals at Action Express Racing, we are very confident that we will score our first win at the Rolex 24 since 2018.  We have earned three, in 2010, 2014, and 2018.  Two with the Daytona Prototype car, and one with the Daytona Prototype International Cadillac.  This would be a third win, for our third driver, Tom Blomqvist, a second, for Pipo Derani, who won the race, albeit with a different team, back in 2016, and a first for Jack Aitken, who joined our team to win the 12 Hours of Sebring, last year.  Now that we have had a year under our belt with the new V Series R GTP Cadillac, we know the car like the back of our hand.  We have been through numerous endurance races with it.  Daytona, Sebring, Le Mans, Watkins Glen, Petit Le Mans.  The car is a known quantity.

Our driver lineup this year is the best in the business as all three of our pilots, Pipo Derani, Jack Aitken, and Tom Blomqvist, are extremely strong and can get the most out of a car over a duration of 24 hour of hard motor racing.  Hard, clean, fair motor racing is what we are looking for.  The opening Free Practice session yesterday went extremely well for us, which tells me we are in good shape so far.  There's more practice today.  Qualifying, that is going to tell the big story.  Practice results, being at the top of the shop, are a great feather in the cap.  But, as always, we are looking for even more.  As racers, which our team are, we are always looking for more, wanting more.  There is a slight difference, I believe, between being a racing driver, and being a racer, someone who will do all possible to achieve victory.  Winning is all that matters.  As the late, great Steve McQueen also said, in his famed movie "Le Mans" about the great French endurance classic, and it is the motto on the marquis for my blog, "racing is life.  Anything that happens before or after, is just waiting."

Once again, to our competition out there, you know who you are, if you see a bright red Cadillac in your rearview mirror, you know you will have a race on your hands.  We have been one of the winningest if not the winningest team in recent IMSA history, and so, I believe that streak is only going to continue.  We first, will go for pole position, tomorrow, in the rapid-fire qualifying session and typically, the GTP cars come out last in the queue for their 15–20-minute qualifying session.  Looking forward to what is to come.  Victory at Daytona would mean so much, since our teams' offices are located very close to the speedway itself and considering our past triumphs at the World Center of Racing.  Qualifying, tomorrow, and the race next Saturday and Sunday.  Bring it on.  We'll see you on the track.  Let's race.
