24 Hours of Le Mans: Hour 2

Alexander Sims and Antonio Garcia battle on the Mulsanne straight.  There is a battle for eighth place in class, between two of the Ford GT's.  It has just begun to rain.  All 60 cars are still in this race.  Fernando Alonso is not the only high profile driver at Le Mans this year.  Former F1 drivers Jenson Button and Juan Pablo Montoya, are entered in this race.  We see Montoya driving for Penske Acura in the IMSA WeatherTech championship.  The #31 car with Pastor Maldonado at the controls, has lost a wheel.  He is pitting to rectify the problem.  The LM GTE Pro scrap continues to stay hot.  The #37 Jackie Chan DC Racing car takes a shortcut through Tetre Rouge.  Mikhail Aleshin in the #11 SMP Racing BR01 is having problems.  The team is fixing it now.  One of the Toyota's flies past the GTE Pro battle.

We move now to the LMP1 battle as well.  This is actually the scrap in the lower half of the top ten for the non hybrid LMP1 machines.  Some argy bargy between BMW and Ford.  Spirit of Race battles Dempsey Proton in LM GTE Am as well.  Alexander Sims and Stefan Mucke are playing a game of cat and mouse here at Le Mans at the moment.  In the second hour, the same battles we have seen, have continued, paying great attention to the GTE Pro cars.  Yellow flag, and it seems to be a local yellow.  Ah!  The Gulf Porsche has spun and slammed the wall through the chicane on the Mulsanne straight.

The #61 Clearwater Racing Ferrari has spun and crashed, and slow on track, is Ho Pin Tung in the #38 Jackie Chan DC Racing car, the LMP2 winners and second place finishers at Le Mans last year!  Slow zones are in effect as the #8 Toyota pits.  Time for a driver change? Slow zones continue to be in effect as we near the end of the second hour of the race.  Into the garage goes Michael Wainwright in the Gulf Racing Porsche 911 RSR.  He spun on the Mulsanne and damaged the left rear wheel of the car.  Now, the entire crew can get at the car.  Ford and Porsche continue their fight in GTE Pro.  It is Sebastien Bourdais vs. Fred Makowiecki, two top French drivers.  Mash the gas pedal, and we are back to racing, at Le Mans. Tony Kanaan in the #67 Ford GT is having a good run, sharing with Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell.

Both leading Toyota's are about to lap a couple of the Aston Martin GTE cars, in the Am class.  The Aston Martin Racing Am entry, and the TF Sport car.  Porsche passes Ford in GTE Pro.
