24 Hours of Spa: Hour 19

Valentino Rossi is now sitting in the car with the BMW M4 GT3 and his confidence is growing.  Valentino Rossi is having a second renaissance.  Rossi gained in lap time by 2.5 to 3 seconds.  WRT are the biggest team in the pit lane and Valentino Rossi used everything that he had at his disposal.  This is a huge challenge and Valentino Rossi has really risen to the challenge.  Engstler, Feller, Andlauer, the top three positions.  Mattia Drudi is another driver to be keeping an eye on.  Ricardo Feller has to use his strengths to get past Luca Engstler.  Side by side stuff, look, and that will be track limits abuse for Ricardo Feller over Lucas Engstler.

The #4 Crowdstrike Mercedes will get back in the race even though they are 46th in the overall and the Pro Ferrari is coming back into the picture.  Ferrari have won the Nurburgring 24 Hours and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023.  Feller, in replay, intimidated Luca Engstler and there is the steering correction.  The gap is 1.1 seconds.  Fresh tires work really well until they plateau netirely.  Nick Yelloly running ninth and is now doing all he can to climb back up through the field.

Through Blanchimont, the #98 BMW might have better perfrmance.  There is not a single car in the positions they started in.  Safety cars and Full Couese Yellows will play a factor and the same is true with the new wave by rule for the Non-Pro cars.  The Grove Porsche in 20nminutes has incurred six penalties.  Nick Yelloly is doing all he can to brave this cahllenge between a fast car and an  evenly paced car, like wading through treacle with running shoes on.

That s was an easy pass through Pouhon.  Ricard Feller ill come in later on into the pits and now, Jules Gounon takes over the #88 Akkodis ASP Mercedes AMG GT3 cars.  The Rowe BMW passes by.  Marciello out of the car, sauntering across the lane, and he wants a double espresso as Jules Gounon is going to be on A game mode.  Feller to the pit lane and now, Engstler is going to have to go fir it it looks like.  Feller into the pit lane for fuel and tires.  I think Feller will hold on to one more stint.  At Audi, their package is a lot older but it is still a very successful looking car.  Adopt and improve the coditions you can control in the lane.

Through Courbe Paul Frere and then through Blanchimont, driver changes imminent for SunEenergy1 leading in Pro-Am.  Nicky Catsburg in the Mercedes is in and there will indeed be a driver change.  Martin Konrad plls Nicky Catsburg out of the car.  After Kenny Habul's accident, he was using an aluminum steering wheel, and the nergy bent the frame of the original car I think.  The SunEnergy1 team has the support of their team boss.

So, Valentno Rossi hands the #46 BMW.  Augusto Farfus has been put back into the car.  The #98 BMW is able to stop right on the hour mark.  That could change if we have a safety car.  A driver change at McLaren.  The McLaren 720S is a fascinating car.  Nick Yelloly is just ahead of Mattia Drudi.  Engstler has come in for service and Thomas Preining will drop down as a result of his recent stop and now, Dean MacDoland is pressing hard.

Kelvin van der Linde takes over the #17 Audi and Nick Yelloly and BMW assume the lead.  Jules Gounon chasing down Thonas Preining.  At the end of 12 hours, Drudi, Marschall, and Ricardo Feller.  Execute your pit stops cleanly.  Control what you dont and don't rush it.  Porsche teams are using strategy to go for the finish but they cannot stretch pace.  Thomas Preining is motoring along around Spa Francorchaps headed up to Les Combes.  I have a feeling I am distracted here.  Well, I am distracted by the sounds of these great race engines that I have experienced now for many, many years.

Great to see and savor Spa onboard.  Now, Dean MacDonald, chasing Gilles Magnus and Magnus passes Lucas Auer while Augusto Farfus is right there as well!  In the garage, the #55 Christopher Zoechling Porsche, game over from gearbox problems and diffuser damage.  Gilles Magnus duffs up the Mercedes of Lucas Auer and here comes Augusto Farfus as well.  Auer keeping Farfus at bay.  Gilles Magnus, is a Le Mans Cup and touring car racer in addition to GT3.

Everything is still to play for with over five hours of racing to go.  Nick Yelloly leads the motor race by 26 seconds and is 20 minutes away from his next pit stop.  The BMW is able to stop on or just after the hour.  Other people are stopping within the hour.  I think the BMW team could indeed be in the pound seats.  Mattia Drudi is second in the Audi followed by Kelvin van der Linde in the #17 Audi.  He is six seconds down on Drudi and was six thousandths of a second lap tiem difference.

Dean MacDonald has had a great race today, well, this whole weekended.  No, Comtoyou Racing #21 Audi pits and Max Hofer finishes his stint.  In Bronze, Robert Rrenauer leads.  Farfus has now moved by Auer and has to get on terms with Gilles Magnus.  Robert and Alfred Renauer are Porsche experts.  They have Kay van Berlo and Klaus Bachler too a believe but those are dffeirent teams.  Bachler and Renauer are 12 seconds apart.  Christopher Zoechling, Marius Nakken, Ben Barker, and Philip Saiger, game over.  Dinamic Motorsports #55, the Porsche, has retired from the race.

Pietro Delli Guanti is going for it and so is Loris Hezemans.  Julien Andlauer tries making a move and the #12 Audi was in the way.  A bit of hip and shoulder there.  Kay van Berlo, Loris Hezemans, and Julien Andlauer all in a battle and now, Ian James is also in this fight as a lapped car. Loris Hezemans is more hesitant in traffic.  Hezemans trying to lap the Mercedes and his hesitancy is hindering him but if he goes half heartedly at it, he'll get rustled around.  Clemens Schmid looks like he wants to make a move for second in Silver.  Now, he gets a shot at it and then Loris Hezemans can use the lapped car as a pick.  Mercedes to the inside, but that was opportunistic stuff.

Tim Heinemann is also arriving on the scene as we watch Clemens Schmid as well.  Loris Hezemans is focusing on passing more competitors.  Clemens Schmid will be on Hezemans' six.
