24 Hours of Le Mans: Hour 22

LMP2 traffic ahead.  The Lamborghini Hypercar and one of the Mustang's as well as an LMP2 are the lapped cars.  Cadillac #2 going for an economy run, doing everything possible to save fuel.  Ferrari trying to go back-to-back at Le Mans in 2024.  I don't think there was, well, there as a slight touch.  Hello, again, to Ben Edwards joined by race engineer Lena Gade, and Timo Bernhard is in the booth.  This battle has been very close.  The fight between the Ferrari and the Porsche is ramping up.  More risks will be taken as track position is crucial.  Toyota and Ferrari have the straight-line speed while the Cadillac and the Porsche have cornering speed.  Timo Bernhard has run Le Mans and the Nurburgring.  The mental exhaustion of Le Mans is what really strains drivers.

Alex Palou did a great jon in the #2 Cadillac and now Alex Lynn takes over.  Fuel is added and the tires are changed.  Going out on cold tires is so tricky especially in a Hypercar and this is what is happening at Toyota.  There is a chance of more rain.  At this stage, be confident about every decision because this is full commitment, and it is almost like a qualifying lap.  Drivers know through details of what you tell them.  Get the essential information.  Miguel Molina, Brendon Hartley, lessandro Pier Guidi, Kevin Estre, the top four.  Just under three hours remaining here at Le Mans.

Don't catch a penalty, watch your tire temperature and sometimes pressure.  The driver is definitely a dats sesnsor.  In the old days there was a larger variety of tires we had.  Timo Bernhard is a formrr Le Mans winner as we said and now, both Ferrari's are under investigation for technical infringements!  Oh wow1  We will have to hear more and more about that.  You are doing well but do not overlu fight it.  Manage the risk.  Ferrari, Toyota, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, The reliability of these old cars is incredible.

These prototype sports cars are so fragile but in terms fo driving, you can drive much harder than the cars from 20+ years ago; like the Audi R8.  LMP2 cars in the pit lane.  The Iron Dames are energized and motivated by the legions of fans they have.  Rain is now likley tom fall in the final hour.  Two hours and 40 minutes remaining.  United Autosport moves ahead of Cool Racing i LMP2.  Ferrari and Porsche in the lane.  No tires for Ferrari and Porsche must have taken a new set.  Hartley figures out he must save fuel.  He got a fuel lught on the dashboard.

Toyota should have a scheduled stop and Brendon Hartley does.  What will happen with the rain?  Ee have had light sprinkles.  The rainn migjt run sligthly south.  More wholesale pit stops.,  One safety car could pull many contenders into the winning battle.  Final pit stops will happen with 45 minutes to go.  Ferrari #50 is in for service.  Hello again, to Oliver Webb.   We could see a chance of raindrops before ths race is all over with two and a half hours to go and a pit stop for the #38 Jota Porsche 963 of Jenson Button and Norman Nato among others.

Penske and Porsche have had some banner times recently but the wiill need to be more cicumpsect to win a race like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.  The bonnett has flown upwards on the #78 Leus who he was fighting Michelle. BMW and Porsche incredibly close in GT3.  Munich vs. Stuttgart for GT3 honors.  Cars we recognize and know what they are.  The Lexus #87 is in with a loose bonnet.  A third-place battle in LMP2 between Inter Europol and Cool Racing.  Vadislav Lomko vs. Malthe Jakobsen.  Rain expected in seven minutes.  This upcoming rain should be somewhat heavy.

The rain lights must be turned on.  There is more rain still to come.  It's a drag race to the chicane on the Mulsanne straight!  This is in LMP2.  Malthe Jakobsen vs. Vadislav Lomko as we said.  Jakobsen and Lomko have both only raced at Le Mans once.  Lomko keeping trackpositoon and minimizing his losses.  We are closing in on the final two hours of racing.  United Autosports leads LMP2 and watch out for rain any minute now.  The rain could get heavy and the top nine cars can still win this race.

The rain is beginning to fall.  The racing in Hypercar and LMP2 as close as ever and now, side by side stuff between Richard Lietz and Sean Gelael.  Porsche 911 GT3R vs. BMW M4 GT3.  Manthey vs. Team WRT.  The garage door is down for the #83 AF Corse Ferrari.  Game over.  Significant rain expected between Indianapolis corner to the frontstretch.  Holy cow!  This does not include the Mulsanne straight.  Mulsanne to Indianapolis will be dry.  Cadillac #2 in for scheduled service with wets on standby for Alex Lynn.  More rain is surely visible on radar.  Cadillac #2 will change tires to wets.  They had to stop now and needed fuel but it is not fully wet.  Look after the wet tires.

You can ruin these wets on a dry track in only two laps.  There is water beginning to fall and now you will have to onto wets.  Jota #12 and Callum Ilott, did they put wets on?  This is the Porsche that was completely rebuilt in a whole night.  Take it slow into the Porsche curves.  Action Express playing it cautious.  The Toyota does not want to risk it.  Brendon Hartley not taking any risks.  Ferrari and Cadillac coming to the lane at similar times and the pace is going to slow up.  Jota are coming into it and Action Express coming back up.  Torubl eon the right fornt with the wheel gun.  It didn't egnage properly on the wheel nut!

An unsafe release from Ferrari and the driver drove through the board!  Oh, my heavens!  Toyota #7 is back in the fight and the #8 has lost time as well.  Neither the #6 or #5 factory Porsche's came in.  Check that, the #5 has.  Have Cadillac and Ganassi Racing played a blinder?  Ferrari #50 is running second, Nicklas Nielsen at the wheel and still on slicks the #6 Porsche 963 from Team Penske has the lead but they have not pitted yet.  Two hours to go, and a little bit more.  Is it worth it for Penske to gamble?  Penske have never won the 24 Hours of Le Mans before.  They were slightly off strategy.

Ferrari #50 pitted and so have both of the Toyota's.  Porsche #6 does pit but later than we thought.  Laurens Vanthoor at the wheel of it.  Callum Ilott and Alex Lynn are the fastest right now.  No tire warmup allowed any longer at Le Mans.  Sectors one and three are equally damp.  The Ferrari is back after it, #50, with Nicklas Nielsen driving and leading the Toyota by 11 seconds.  Felipe Drugovich is now in the Whelen Cadillac now 15th.  Oh my.  The passenger door is open on the #50 Ferrari 499P!  Yikes!
