As we talked about on the eve of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the LMP2 cars are going to stay pretty much the same as they have, until 2028, meaning no changes whatsoever, which would give the current platform with the Oreca chassis and the Gibson Technologies V8 engine, a lifespan of 11 years at least.
New LMP2 Regs Delayed Until 2028
Mirroring what the FIA and the ACO in France have determined, IMSA also confirms that the current regulations for GTP and LMP2 will be well extended for the foreseeable future over the next four to five years. Nothing wrong with the formula now, so keep it going the way it is.
